I watched the races on Saturday and was so happy that Mike Smith (Zenyatta's jockey) won the Classic aboard Drosselmeyer. He was so close last year on Zenyatta and took it so hard when they came up so very little short. Looks like Drosselmeyer runs like Z - way back and moves up at the very end.
And I absolutely love this horse Hansen that won the Juvenile - he lead the way all the way around the track.
And Zenyatta was at home getting lots of attention as she is due in March.
We took Winston to PetSmart to have his nails done yesterday. He had been doing pretty good, but yesterday was busy - and there was a Great Dane there. He was freaking out and so they had to muzzle him AND hold him down. He came home and went directly into his crate and took a good long nap. It was all just too much for him!
This is an old picture but you can see how long his nails grow - it only takes a few weeks. And this is pretty much the same face that he had all day yesterday after he got back.
Saturday, October 1, 2011 is the Indiana Derby. It is said that Shackleford, the 2011 Preakness winner will be an entry. His grandfathers are Storm Cat (grandsire) and Unbridled (damsire). And he is a red with white markings - just like Winston!
Thought I would shre some pics from other Corgi Blogs. This is the only part of puppy stage I miss. Winston was two and he has never slept sprawled out like this. He does sometimes sleep on his back. Aren't they just too cute for words?
This was on Yahoo news today. It is so telling as to how our pets feel about us - even though they can't tell us - they show us, even after death.
The Lab, Hawkeye, on the right in front of the casket, is the forever friend of Jon Tumilson, shown on the left, one of the Navy Seals killed in Afghanistan when their helicopter was shot down by the enemy. The same Navy Seal Division that got Bin Laden. This makes me sad, but enlightened as to how much our pets really know and feel about us. I am going to give Winston and Rosko an extra hug tonight when I get home.
Last Friday I went to the track to watch the AM exercises. Hope to get there more this year than last year. Even though I love being there in the morning with just me, the horses and the exercise riders - I guess I will try to get to the races more than a few times this year.
And speaking of "And so it begins.." - a new beginning for Troy's best friend Lee who married his lovely bride Cindy this past Saturday. Best wishes for a happy life to you both. And Lee remember, "Happy Wife - Happy Life"
What I have learned about our little buddy is that he hates having his picture taken. But I managed to get a few good (?) shots of him this past weekend. Once again, ignore the date - stupid camera!
